Normal magnet drive impellers have very low torque so they are designed to prevent large particles jamming the impeller and stopping the pump. They have a very open face impeller and high clearance all around it to take large particles. The down side of this design is that the impeller cannot hold the water and create any pressure. The water is pushed back through the gaps around it by back pressure.
With Duplex Magflow the snail shell shape of the chamber creates an area of tight tolerance where the impeller can generate significant pressure and higher clearance areas where particles are picked up in the flow. This is only possible because of the unique unblocking action which operates if a particle becomes trapped by the impeller.
IMPORTANT: The duplex action of the impeller will cause noise and intermittent flow on start up and during self cleaning. THIS IS NOT A FAULT. Electronic models feature a soft start cleaning cycle which repeats every 30 seconds to clear the pump when blocked. Turning the pump off and on may also restart the pump. If the self cleaning action cannot clear the blockage it will be necessary to manually remove the object from the impeller following the maintenance instructions.
